PDF2008 Membership Mail-in Form

The Summit Freewheelers Bicycle Club is a developmental racing club, meaning we focus on basic cycling and racing skills in addition to supporting expert level racing teams. We have members of all ages and riding levels: beginning racers, expert racers, non-racers, and men, women, juniors, and seniors. Our Club is open to all cyclists. If you are a competitive cyclist, we urge you to join—you will find many others with the same interests. As a member, you will enjoy the companionship of fellow racing enthusiasts, learn about your sport, improve your fitness, and promote safe cycling.

Some of the Benefits of Membership

Discounts on equipment: Each year we provide a program that enables Club members to purchase items such as tires, tubes, and other equipment at discounted prices. Sometimes it's through a manufacturer, a catalog, or a local bike shop. In 2004 we have arrangements with Marty's Bike Shop in Stow, who is one of our sponsors this year, for our discount program.

Racing: We sponsor Races at the Lake (RATL), a high quality bicycle series race held each year at Munroe Falls Park. This is our Club's signature event. It attracts racers from all over Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Learn more about this race series at RATL Races.

Training: If it is training for high caliber USCF or ABR racing, or just to get fit, the Freewheelers have cycling programs that can help you achieve your goals. We are particularly interested in helping the new entrant to the sport of bicycle racing. See the Training Page to learn more about our training programs and to see our Club ride schedule.

TOP Program: Total Overall Performance is a summer-long series providing racing, training, and developmental opportunities to Club members. The races are primarily for Club members but non-members are welcome to participate. These are laid-back, low-key events for training, enjoyment, and local bragging rights. The races and time trials are held in and around the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. See more about this program at TOP Program.

Community Involvement: In an effort to promote our sport, encourage safe cycling, cultivate youth cycling, and give back to our community the Freewheelers have developed programs such as our cycling rodeo to teach cycling basics and safety.

Sanctioning Bodies

The United States Cycling Federation (USCF) is the primary sanctioning body for bicycle racing in the US.

American Bicycle Racing (ABR) is a newer "grass roots" organization sanctioning bicycle racing.
